The children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Harlow day nursery are supporting the Snowflake Appeal 2014 run by Home-Start – the charity dedicated to supporting families with young children – with a day of snowflake themed fun on Wednesday 19th November.
Throughout the day the children will be turning a willow arch in the nursery’s garden into an igloo, doing lots of ice play and reading snowy, wintery stories. They will also be able to come to nursery dressed in their pyjamas and onesies and bring their favourite teddy along for a tea party in the afternoon.
Snowflake Appeal merchandising such as enamel pin badges, stickers and message cards will also be available to purchase from the nursery.
The Snowflake Appeal, which runs from 1st November to 31st January, is fronted by TV’s Kirstie Allsopp and was launched by Home-Start last year. Funds raised by the Snowflake Appeal help to ensure that Home-Start’s volunteers based at 300 centres around the UK have the training and support they need to continue to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
Anna Yeates, Nursery Manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this year’s Snowflake Appeal. Not only does the campaign raise funds for an extremely worthy cause, but also Home-Start chose this particular theme to emphasise how totally unique and in need of nurturing every child is – a philosophy with which we wholeheartedly agree.
“The children are very excited about having a whole week of Snowflake themed fun, I think they might even be looking forward to it more than the prospect of real snow this year!”
