Children At Kiddi Caru Peterborough Celebrate Diwali

Children and staff from Kiddi Caru’s Peterborough day nursery have been celebrating Diwali.

The festival, held in honour of Hindu goddess of wealth and fortune Lakshmi, celebrates the joyous return of Lord Rama and his wife Sita.

The staff and children all dressed up in bright colours and enjoyed lots of traditional dancing. The children made special celebratory pasta necklaces that they wore while dancing and as a special treat the nursery chef cooked samosas and sweet treats for everyone to enjoy.

Emma Auston, Nursery Manager, explained: “It is important to us with children from so many diverse backgrounds that we celebrate the different festivals that are held throughout the year. Diwali is one of the children’s favourites as it encompasses so many fun and exciting things to do whilst conveying a story that the children also find very interesting.”
