The children at Kiddi Caru’s Colchester day nursery found out how much fun it is playing with fluffy flour and squidgy dough recently when they donned their bakers’ hats to make some delicious bread rolls.
After getting used to the texture of the flour the children went on to knead and roll their dough to perfection before shaping their bread roll however they liked and waiting for it to be baked for them by the nursery’s on site chef.
Laura Evans, nursery manager, said: “Baking and cooking are wonderful activities for the children to do, as not only do they help them to develop things like hand eye coordination, they also give them an insight into where food comes from and how it is made. The children were very patient waiting for their rolls to bake and were so proud of the end results that they even waited to show them off to their parents instead of tucking straight into them!”
