Kathryn Learner, Early Years specialist teacher at Bright Horizons Nurseries has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to young children’s learning.
Kathryn, who lives in the village of Haddenham, won the prestigious Nursery World Early Years Professional of the Year Award on Saturday night. This Nursery World award recognises practitioners who have gained Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) through one of the recognised pathways.
In her role, Kathryn, who achieved her Early Years Professional Status in March 2010, works closely with colleagues at Bright Horizons nurseries across Oxfordshire, inspiring the teams to reflect critically on their practice and to look for ways to strengthen and further improve their leadership of children’s learning and development.
Nicola Amies, director of Early Years at Bright Horizons, who nominated Kathryn, said:
“Kathryn is an exceptional Early Years Professional, who has made a significant impact at our nurseries. Those she works with talk highly of her passionate commitment to ensuring every child has the very best care and learning experience at Bright Horizons and we are honoured to have Kat as part of our team.”
Kathryn, who was clearly delighted at winning such a special award, said, “I am absolutely thrilled to win the Early Years Professional of the Year award, I was shocked to be shortlisted but to win is absolutely incredible. I would like to thank everyone at Bright Horizons who has helped me develop this amazing career in childcare.”
