The Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY) has announced two new membership offers for access to its training support and improvement provision.
Early years students can now have access to membership as well as nursery settings keen to make all staff PACEY members.
PACEY offers digital and face to face training and an in depth understanding of the early years sector to its members, which includes 35,000 childcare providers in England and Wales.
Liz Bayram, PACEY chief executive, said: “I am delighted we can now support individuals at the very start of their childcare career as PACEY Student members and, in response to requests from nurseries, offer nursery teams PACEY membership. Owners and managers can now buy PACEY membership for their staff, which is a great way to help retain and develop their employees.”
The two extra membership offers have been created after PACEY research found retaining and motivating staff was a key concern of nursery settings. Nurseries will also now be able to buy membership for all of the staff members to ensure their professional development of staff can be met.
PACEY is hopeful that offering students membership will encourage and help them as they move into full time childcare employment.
Penny Tassoni, PACEY president, said: “It is great that PACEY is offering a wide range of different membership packages. The online training, support and information on offer can now be accessed by more people than ever before. As a former lecturer on early years and childcare courses, I am particularly excited by our student membership offer that runs in conjunction with colleges.”
Emma Battersby, who is a trustee of PACEY and owns Flutterbies Quality Childcare in Rotherham, said: “We know it is difficult for our staff to find time to train and reflect on their practice, so we are pleased that PACEY nursery team membership will help us to support staff to do this more.”
