Heather Watson, Senior Nursery Practitioner at Bright Horizons Livingston Nursery in Murieston has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to young children’s learning.
Heather has been shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards; Nursery World’s Nursery Practitioner of the Year Award and Nursery Management Today Scotland’s Nursery Childcare Worker Award. Both of these awards are held annually to showcase the best individuals, organisations, initiatives and resources in the early years education and childcare sector. Heather’s shortlist came following her Regional Manager Sally Tilley’s nomination.
Sally stated within her nomination that “Heather deserves to win the awards due to her inbuilt passion for everything she does.” She continues to describe Heather’s relationship with the children; “Heather knows when to intervene, when to encourage and when to support the children, she chooses the right tone and language to communicate with all ages, supporting them to gain knowledge and independence. She not only takes time to get to know the individual child but also shows an interest in the family, which gives her a better understanding of behaviours and each child’s ability to learn.” She concludes that “Heather is an inspiration and valuable member of the team, which is evident if she is attending a training course as the nursery is not as vibrant without her special magic.”
Heather, who is clearly delighted at being shortlisted, said, “I'm overjoyed at being nominated for both awards, it’s a great feeling to know that my passion and hard work is being recognised in such a way. I would like to thank everyone at Bright Horizons who has helped me develop this amazing career in childcare.”
The Nursery Management Today Scotland award takes place on the 2nd of September in Glasgow with the Nursery World Awards taking place at a glamourous event in London on 27th September.
