Everybody at Brinds Well in Orpington was celebrating on Friday (February 28th) as their employee-owned company was named one of the best places to work in the country and top for employee wellbeing.
Children and parents arriving at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery in Hawstead Lane, Orpington were greeted by cheering staff celebrating a ‘Sweet 16’ listing and a top award in ‘The Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to Work For’ competition.
“It is a very personal achievement because we are all employee owners and what we say really does make a difference. When you are committed to giving young children the very best start in life, a happy supported staff team is vital. That’s what makes this special Wellbeing award so very important to us all,” said Brinds Well Manager, Jo Whelan.
Brinds Well Day Nursery is part of the award-winning group, Childbase Partnership, which has 47 day nurseries in the South of England and is one of 108 UK companies to be rated ‘Extraordinary’ this year by engagement specialists, Best Companies.
The company beat nearly 900 businesses, including retail giants Bravissimo, to take ‘Best for Wellbeing’ - one of six special awards on the night – in recognition of the variety and range of employee support schemes including a unique ‘reduced hours same pay deal’ introduced last year.
Achieving 16th place in the prestigious lists, the company was ranked third in the country for making good use of employee skills; fifth for job security and sixth for career development.
“Ofsted inspectors have told us repeatedly that a happy and engaged staff team equals happy children. Our pride in our nursery and our company is reflected in our happy and confident children and there is nothing more rewarding or satisfying than that,” said manager Jo Whelan.
