Pre-schoolers and staff at Seabrook Day Nursery in Luton were ‘sharing the love’ on Valentine’s Day with a charity fund-raising raffle and crafting and baking for their parents.
Crafted hearts decorated playrooms at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery in Lewsey Road as children also dressed in red, white and pink clothing prepared ‘love tokens’ for their parents with heart shaped biscuits and cards.
As Manager, Christine Walters, explained the popular annual event provides an ideal opportunity to send ‘the love’ further afield and was particularly poignant this year as fund-raising is in aid of The Sue Andrews Foundation, a new charity launched on the first anniversary of the death of a colleague to breast cancer.
“Sue was an inspirational woman in her work with children; the support she gave staff and with her dedicated charity fund-raising right up to her death last year. The Foundation is our tribute to her and will ensure her good works continue,” she said praising parents, staff and local businesses for their enthusiastic support of the week-long fund-raising drive.
Prizes for the raffle include baby-sitting sessions offered by staff, wine, and fun at the local ‘Go Bowling’ alley in Dunstable.
