Tears, laughter and group hugging followed the announcement that Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon is officially one of the best early learning centres in the country.
Angela Farmery, Manager of the nursery in Whitehill Way, Windmill Business Park, said the top Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating – achieved by only 12 per cent of English Early Years Providers – was the perfect way to start the year.
“We couldn’t be more delighted. Everything we do here is about giving our children the very best nursery experience possible. Ofsted recognition now is so important but the push for further improvements will continue,” she said.
In her report, the inspector said that staff formed close bonds with their children providing excellent emotional and practical support. “Children make excellent progress in this safe and highly stimulating nursery. Staff carefully monitor each child, so they can plan and adapt learning experiences to meet individual needs,” she said.
In praising her dedicated team, Angela Farmery said she was particularly delighted the inspector had recognised the “very strong partnerships” with parents, other settings and outside agencies ensuring that children's learning and welfare needs are consistently met.
“Parents and staff working together over many years have made this nursery outstanding. That Ofsted has recognised it is the icing on the cake,” she said.
