West Hampstead Day Nursery and Pre School are benefitting from a £300,000 investment to create a ‘hidden gem’ haven for local children.
The investment has created a new baby suite and pre-school area making new places for children and offers innovative ways to help children develop through play and learning activities.
Nursery manager Shandel Dubois said: "A local baby boom has meant that our baby room which previously could only accommodate sixteen babies wasn't meeting demand, now our new suite caters for twenty four. Our new-pre-school room, complete with latest Smart board computer equipment, specially crafted wooden furniture and a children's kitchen that enables children to make their own snacks, can now also cater for twenty four children in a superb new 'outdoor adventure' environment."
She adds: "Parents just love it. We've registered seventeen new families in the past couple of weeks. And one of our regular mums jokingly enquired last week if she could lie about her son's age so he could stay at the nursery longer!"
The main garden area is set to reflect the focus Asquith Day Nurseries group has on improving the outdoor space for children in all of their nurseries. The garden includes a special figure of eight race track, two new climbing frames and a stage area for children to boost children’s creativity by performing plays.
The nursery group spent over £4m on nursery refits and refreshes last year and continues to improve the 79 nurseries it runs nationwide.
Ms Dubois continued: "This really is a hidden gem in London. If you looked at the nursery from the front you would never believe the size of the garden at the rear. Children learn through fun, and our new-look nursery is all about our children having a great time in an outstanding environment while they are in our care."
