Children at Treetops Nursery in Birlingham received a very special letter through the post last week all the way from Buckingham Palace in London. The Queen sent the note addressed to the children in the Clever Crocs room to thank them for their, “Splendid cards and kind messages” on the occasion of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.
Youngsters at Treetops spent the weeks leading up to the Jubilee learning lots about The Queen and they especially enjoyed looking at lots of old photographs to see how much has changed in the last 60 years. Many of them still remembered last years Royal Wedding and so they were fascinated to learn that The Queen was in fact Prince William’s granny!
After so much celebrating the children were keen to make cards for The Queen to congratulate her on her special day with Finlay Clarke (aged 4) wishing The Queen a ‘Happy Jubilee’ on his card.
Georgina Hempstead, Nursery Manager, said “Sending cards was a way to make the Jubilee celebrations a little more meaningful for the children as they are all used to getting cards on special occasions such as their birthdays. It was lovely to see how excited they were to receive a reply and they are all so proud of their very special letter!”
Pictured showing off their treasured letter are Olivia Parry-Evans (aged 4), Olivia Jordan Cottrell (aged 4) and Isabel Buckley (aged 3)
Treetops now has Olympic fever and invites you to join in with their celebrations of London 2012 at their Sports Day on Friday 17th August at 2pm.
