After seven years working in childcare, Suzi Walker had hit a qualifications ceiling.
"I really wanted to work my way up the career ladder into nursery management but had got to the top of where I could go without further training," explained Suzi, who also needed to balance a hectic full-time job as a Group Leader at the Surrey Borders Day Trust with caring for her mother.
She chose the Level 3 Certificate in Management with the Smart Training Online Training Academy as she had no spare time during the working day.
"I had to do the qualification independently and fit the study in when it suited me - but I still needed time to chill out at weekends!" she said. "I have good computer skills and I forced myself to make time for the course."
Smart Training Tutor Anna Holland has been on call - by text, email and in person - to help Suzi achieve her goal. "Anna has been fantastically supportive and really flexible. Catching up can be quite hard but she has always been there for me any time I needed her.
"I've been so impressed with Smart Training I've even encouraged six of our staff to study on day-release and have acted as their training officer.
"Now my certificate will mean I can take the next step in my career into nursery management."
