A new £6 million pound day nursery and primary school is to be built in Buckinghamshire by BAM Construction UK.
Berryfields nursery school will have the capacity for 52 pre-school children, on the same site as Aylesbury Vale Academy.
It will also host a range of community facilities including a children’s centre, an IT centre, a kitchenette and rooms for adult learning and social activities.
The funding for the school has come through a Section 106 agreement with the developers of the Berryfields estate.
Work will start in June, with completion expected in September 2013.
BAM Construction’s education framework manager for the South East, Stephen McMeekin said: “I am delighted we have been chosen to deliver this important building on the same site as the Aylesbury Vale Academy.
“BAM has worked hard to understand the requirements of Buckinghamshire County Council and we look forward to delivering outstanding facilities for nursery, primary and academy pupils.”
“Sue Imbriano, strategic director for children and young people’s services at Buckinghamshire County Council, said: “The addition of the primary school is a key part of the Berryfields development and complements the existing work to re-locate Aylesbury Vale Academy to a new building on the same site.
“The County Council looks forward to its successful completion in partnership with BAM and the Oxford Anglican Diocese.”
