When it comes to childcare it’s important to get everything right from the beginning. Lessons prior to schooling can be hugely influential for young children, in terms of both educational and social development. Giving them the best possible start is an investment that will pay great dividends, so choosing the right nursery is essential.
Corner House Nursery offers a flexible approach to childcare for children aged six months to four years. With a minimum of just three-and-a-half hours per week, Corner House cuts out the stress of arranging childcare with packages that can be tailored for every schedule. Leaving your child alone for the first time can be a daunting experience, but with experienced staff and a dedicated approach to child development Corner House is able to ease the transition.
Brightly coloured, warm and welcoming, the nursery has a range of rooms specifically designed for different games and activities. While other nurseries may rely on local parks and playgrounds, Corner House boasts four individual play areas so that children can explore the outdoors on-site. As well as an adventure playground and a yard, the premises includes a nature garden, where children can learn about the environment and track the progress on plants and flowers they plant themselves.
As a family-run business, Corner House offers family’s a secure environment full of familiar faces. Many staff members have been with the company since completing training, with some having trained at the nursery itself. Financial and business manager Faye Puzzovio prides the Nursery on the high-quality staff. She said: “Our staff are fantastic – very experienced and highly qualified. Having great staff is the key to creating a safe, caring and welcoming environment.”
Childcare manager Samantha Priest, who has just completed a BA in Early Childhood Studies and achieved Early Years Professional Status, believes that experiences at nursery school can significantly shape a child’s development in later life. “What children learn under the age of three can be very influential on their education, as well as their social skills and values, therefore staff must be fully trained for this responsibility.
“At Corner House we observe children during imaginative play and find out their interests. Then we can build on those interests with a learning experience so they are learning through their play time. This sets them up on the path to learning and allows them to develop their individual tastes and independence.”
As well as providing high-quality care, the nursery also prides itself on supplying children with nutritious snacks and meals. The nursery had recently worked with the Sheffield Food Trust to monitor the nutritional value in meals provided. With a full time cook and assistant on-site, parents can rest assured knowing their children are being provided with a healthy diet, free from processed foods. Corner House Nursery is open from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday all year round. There are currently some spare places for babies.
