The Pre-school Learning Alliance is looking for nominees for its Volunteer Awards 2012.
Everyone directly involved with the work of the Alliance, whether as parents, staff members or volunteers, is eligible to nominate volunteers for the Awards.
There are four awards categories: outstanding volunteer at a nursery or pre-school, outstanding pre-school committee volunteer, outstanding volunteer at a baby and toddler group and lifetime achievement award.
Neil Leitch, Alliance chief executive, said: ‘It’s important for the Alliance to recognise the unsung work of volunteers as they have played a leading role in our work right from the beginning more than 50 years ago by campaigning for and delivering high-quality, accessible early years services for families and local communities across England.'
'These Awards recognise the important contribution made by thousands of volunteers in the sector, no matter how great or small. This is a real opportunity to recognise someone whose enthusiasm, expertise and commitment makes a real difference to the lives of families in your local community.’
As part of the nomination process, volunteer nominees are asked to consider and address how their volunteer demonstrates a high level of personal commitment, positive contribution or difference to the local community, how they overcome particular difficulties or obstacles in their role, how children, parents, the setting or project has benefited and why they are unique or exceptional.
All Alliance volunteers are eligible to be nominated, including those who help out at groups, subcommittees and settings that are members of the Alliance.
A panel of judges will consider all the nominations and shortlist against the awards criteria. Two nominations from each category will go forward to the final stage.
The deadline for this year's nominations is 5 April 2012.
The winners of the Volunteer Awards will be announced at the Alliance’s annual conference, exhibition and AGM on Friday 15 June.
