A team of 80 Bright Horizons staff and supporters climbed Mount Snowdon – the highest mountain in England and Wales - on Saturday 20th August to support and raise money for The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.
The team included nursery staff, field managers, office colleagues and the company’s management team, joined by some nursery parents, partners and husbands, two family dogs – and of course Candy Floss, Bright Horizons’ own Health and Safety Superhero, there to ensure everyone climbed and descended safely!
The team spirit and camaraderie proved stronger than the cold winds and icy rain. Those who struggled were encouraged and given a helping hand (literally) by colleagues and everyone completed the climb and reached the summit – to a welcome of cheers, tears and hugs.
During the ascent many members of the team received additional support and encouragement from a group of 11 colleagues from property management company Hazelvine, who were climbing the mountain as part of a team-building exercise. The Hazelvine team were so impressed by the Bright Horizons spirit of determination and collaboration they witnessed and by the story of the Foundation that they made a group decision to donate £50 to our fundraising – a donation made at the top of the mountain!
Managing Director of Hazelvine, Nigel Burnand, explained that meeting with the Bright Horizons team “demonstrated what can be achieved by people working together which was the perfect example for our training weekend.” Many thanks to Hazelvine for the donation and also for your encouragement on the day.
Our fundraising target for the climb is £10,000 for our Foundation for Children, which is the registered charity we founded with the specific aim of helping families and children in crisis - living in temporary accommodation or fleeing from domestic violence for example. Our Foundation works with local community agencies and our clients to create Bright Spaces©, rooms or garden areas in homeless shelters and temporary housing facilities where children and families can play, learn, have fun and most of all feel safe.
Our staff teams, children and nursery families, together with our clients, work tirelessly to raise funds for and awareness of our Foundation. We are committed to making a difference, not only in the lives of the thousands of children we care for daily in our nurseries, but also in the communities where we live and work - if you would like to help us by making a donation please visit our just giving page at:
