Children at Alphabet House Day Nursery in West Bridgford are marking St David’s Day by paying a return visit to Nottinghamshire’s community gardener, Rachel Hemmings, following the successful visit she made to the nursery in November.
This time, the focus will be on daffodils and all things welsh and Rachel will be talking to the children about the daffodils growing in her garden and how she planted and cared for them.
The children will also be able to walk round the lovely gardens, meet the chickens, help with collecting the eggs and water the plants and daffodils. They are also planning to have a go at making a paper daffodil and the visit will finish with a picnic of welsh food outdoors or in the poly tunnel if the weather isn’t kind.
Lisa Palin, nursery manager says, “It is great to be working with Rachel again after her successful visit last year. As well as learning about St David’s Day, this visit gives us the chance to talk to the children about gardening and the environment as well as giving tips on growing vegetables and how to plant them.”
