After months of planning and building, our “World First” interactive dance studio is now ready! Children at daisykins and great dais have already started stepping up to the beat, and learning new moves as part of their dance and movement sessions.
Boasting a bespoke designed light up dance floor with numbers, colours and shapes, the dance studio offers children an innovative way to engage in learning whilst getting active and developing gross motor skills. Complementing the nursery’s already extensive facilities, like the purpose built soft play room, the dance studio will lend a new dimension to the already extensive curriculum that is synonymous with daisykins day nursery and great dais pre-school.
Building on recent research that shows the importance of introducing music and dance to children during their early years, Jessica Lines head of dance and movement at daisykins will be introducing activities that will develop children’s beat competency to improve their motor skills development, particularly co-ordinated movements like walking, climbing, running and dancing. Making full use of the brightly lit floor with numbers, colours and shapes, children will also be learning to combine rhythm, counting, words and actions, further developing their language skills.
“We are absolutely thrilled with our newest facility. It ties in well with our mission of providing the best in care and education for our babies, toddlers and pre-school children. Investing in this dance studio is yet another of many planned activities and facilities that sets us apart as one of the most progressive nurseries in the UK” said daisykins Manager Pam Simpkins.
To officially launch the new studio, our children will be putting on their spots and participating in a sponsored dancethon for BBC Children Look out for more details!
