A vacancy for a supernumery Deputy Manager in our 120 place day nursery has become available. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior practitioner to take on a new and challenging role within a well-established day nursery.

You will work alongside the Manager to support the day to day running of the nursery with your role placing a large focus on coaching and mentoring the staff team. The Deputy Manager will primarily be based in the office but will also be required to work in the rooms on some days alongside the staff to support them where needed.

Your duties will include;

  • Opening and closing the nursery
  • Conducting show rounds for perspective parents
  • Dealing with parent queries and complaints
  • Completing the nursery’s assessment tracking
  • Conducting new staff inductions
  • Carrying out peer observations
  • Carrying out all administrative duties
  • Reviewing and writing Policies and Procedures
  • Reviewing and carry out risk assessments
  • Contributing to the marketing of the nursery
  • Cooking in the chefs absence
  • Managing safeguarding concerns and where needed writing reports and attending conferences.
  • Carrying out audits/spot checks and setting action plans.
  • Planning and delivery of training days
  • Staff recruitment and retention

You must have an Early Years qualification of at least a Level 3, a foundation degree or higher is desirable but not essential. The candidate must have experience as a senior practitioner in a nursery and be able to demonstrate clear leadership skills. You must be highly organised, able to work on your own initiative and be professional, yet approachable. You must have sound knowledge of the EYFS, child development and SEND and should be able to demonstrate this through your practice.

The candidate must be computer literate and have a grade C English GCSE or above.

Successful candidates will need to provide “Right to Work in the UK” documents, be on the DBS Update Service and provide two satisfactory references prior to commencing employment.
