Gwendolen House Nursery School are a private nursery, offering sessional and full-time care and education for children aged between three months to five years for families local to Putney and the wider surrounding areas.

Gwendolen House Nursery School provide a warm friendly environment, very large garden for outdoor play, nutritious food from organic suppliers and allow children to learn through a fun and stimulating environment.


About the role:

We are seeking to recruit experienced, highly motivated and passionate qualified early years practitioners.

Do you have experience of working with babies and toddlers and a good knowledge of the EYFS and of spoken and written English?

Salary will be determined on the basis of qualifications and experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to a programme of activities suitable to the age range of the children in your area in conjunction with other staff.
  • To assist in the carrying out of observations and assessments and keep a proper record of achievement file on children.
  • To work alongside parents of children (including special needs children) to give full integration in the Nursery.
  • To support colleagues and engage in a good team work.
  • To liaise with and support parents and other family members.
  • To attend all out of working hours activities e.g. training, parent meetings, nursery events etc.
  • To be flexible within the working practices of the Nursery e.g. keeping care rooms clean and tidy, cleansing equipment etc.
  • To work alongside the manager and other staff team to ensure that the philosophies and policies and procedures of the Nursery are observed and fulfilled.
  • To assist with the keeping of proper records as required within the Nursery setting.
  • To help where help is required by colleagues and to be constantly aware of the needs of the children.
  • To respect the confidentiality of information received.
  • To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development.


Specific Childcare tasks will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation and completion of activities to suit the children’s stages of development;
  • Ensuring that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing;
  • Assisting in the washing and changing children as required;
  • Providing comfort to children.


Working Week:

Gwendolen House Nursery School is open Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 7.00 pm, throughout the year apart from Bank Holidays and the period between Christmas Eve and New Year. 

The working week would be 8:30- 6:30 or 7 am – 3 pm or 11 am – 7 pm 



We are located in a large Victorian house on Gwendolen Avenue, a wide residential road in Putney, South West London and are close to public transport.
