The Review Score of 9.7 (maximum of 10) for Butterflies Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Butterflies Nursery in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.707 for Butterflies Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (162 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.707

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Butterflies Nursery is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 11.6 positive Reviews (58 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 16 Reviews ÷ 11.6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Thank you, Dwight, for a lovely review. It’s great to have you and your family as part of the Butterflies family.

My daughter has settled in really well.
Even though she only does one day a week and missed a week due to chicken pox, it hasn't impacted on her in the slightest. I wholeheartedly believe this is due to the caring and friendly nature of the staff that have bonded and made such an effort to make my daughter feel welcome in her first month.

Hi Sam, thank you for a lovely review it’s great to welcome you and your family to butterflies.

My children have attended Butterflies for over 5 years now. There are members of staff who have continued to (and still do) work to a high standard during this time. They really do care for each child both within the nursery environment and how they are at home.
The interior has been greatly improved since the new management took over, it’s really welcoming and clean, and along with the new additions to the facilities, Butterflies is a fantastic nursery. It’s really convenient being in the centre of town too!
The food always goes down well too with the children. If possible they get the children playing outside as much as they can, creating fun games to help their development.
They have been especially helpful when my son was hesitant to leave my side, allowing me to ease him in slowly and they never mind a call to see how your child is getting on. I couldn’t recommend them more.

Hi Steph, Thank you for such a lovely review. It’s a pleasure to care for your children and help them settle. We especially like to when your eldest pops back in during the school holidays to spend the day with us.
Thank you again.

Would highly recommend Butterflies Nursery. Staff are lovely and great with the children. My son has been going from the baby room and is now in the toddler room. He has really come out of his shell since attending. Never had any problems - keep up the good work!

Thank you for a lovely review of Butterflies. It’s a pleasure to help your child grow in confidence and we can’t wait to support them on the rest of their journey.
Thank you again.
Team Butterflies.

Well done Team Butterflies on a clean, welcoming and friendly nursery. My son settled in well after starting in the Toddler Room in September and asks to go to nursery, which is lovely to hear. The staff always do lots of different activities with the children and greet children and parents with a smile, and I'm looking forward to my son starting in the pre-school room in a few months. The nursery also encourages daily play outdoors in all weather which is great for children and encourages healthy play. A small suggestion to make things even better would be if the nursery went online with Tapestry and also provided a short daily paper report of food eaten, toilet visits and activities done as it can be hard to remember all the details on collection.

Thank you for a lovely review of Butterflies and thank you for your ideas. We love to hear parental suggestions and we will look into seeing if we can implement any of your suggestions in the future.
Team Butterflies

After the new owners took over from the previous company that ran Butterflies, the nursery has been much better. There used to be a smell of fowl nappies and my daughter was ill regularly. But since the nursery changed hands, my daughter has not been ill (even once) and it smells fresh and clean when you enter. With a new interior it looks very nice, and the staff that have looked after my daughter, have always been nice and courteous. My daughter loves to go and play with her friends, and the staff like to work with you for the best development path for your child. I really like how they communicate regularly in regards to development and new achievements of my daughter. Overall I feel it is a very good nursery and they care for and teach my child good manners, useful skills and help greatly in her development. Thank you Butterflies.

Team Butterflies

My children (one in particular) are quite clingy to me in most situations and I was nervous about leaving them at any nursery. I was expecting the worst but only had 3 weeks of crying when I left until they were all happy to run in and start playing with just a quick cursory goodbye to me when I left.

I was amazed. The staff are so lovely and my children just adore them.

Although as a whole they don’t offer a sibling discount, I was offered a discounted rate due to having triplets and the cost being out of my reach otherwise. I really appreciated this and I couldn’t ask for a better nursery for my children.

I find the staff very warm and professional and I feel they really do care about my child.

Alice, Director at Butterflies Nursery responded to this review on 01 Nov 2017:

Thank you for taking your time to review Butterflies, it’s a pleasure to take care of your little one and we are really pleased they are enjoying their time at Butterflies.

My little boy started at the age of 2 only being able to speak 4 words, within weeks he came home with a selection of new words. 18 months later, he's never quiet. He loves it here and runs to nursery most days. He also loves the baby snails! My only negative is that there is no sports day or parents evening, but saying that you are free to go through the child's drawer whenever you like to see what they have been up to. You are informed on collection every day what activities they have done, their behaviour and what they have eaten etc.

Thank you for taking your time to review Butterflies.

It is lovely to hear how well your little one has progressed and it was a pleasure to help them achieve this.
Now the nursery is under new ownership we will be having parents meetings these will be on 6th December, 28th March, 4th July. We will also be planning lots of parent partnership days so parents have the chance to get involved in their child's learning. Please keep an eye out for these events and we look forward to welcoming you to them. You are also very welcome to chat to your child's key person at any time.
Thank you again for your review
The Butterflies Team

I brought my 2 girls here spanning a time of 11 years and both girls have absolutely thrived here, I'd highly recommend Butterflies. The staff are wonderful with the children and they were brilliant at working with my child in a way that complimented and reinforced my parenting style. The food is fantastic thanks to their in-house cook and at the end of their session, I had an in-depth run down if what my daughter's day involved. My youngest has just started school and misses Butterflies so much, she's got a photo of her key worker on her bedroom wall so she can say goodnight to her. A+ Butterflies!
