  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.969 for The Elms Nursery School is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.969

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 4.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Elms Nursery School is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12.8 positive Reviews (64 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 12.8 Target = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My daughter started at The Elms Nursery last September and has come on leaps and bounds since. Her confidence has grown immensely thanks to the staff at the nursery. The staff have helped her become a lot more independent in preparation for school and most importantly, have made her feel safe and confident in expressing herself. My daughter will miss attending nursery very much.

Overall, we are incredibly happy with the nursery experience our daughter has received.

Dear Rebecca,
Thank you for the kind review. You are right your daughter has grown in confidence, partially through having so many friends, both children and adults at the nursery. We will miss her but look forward to her younger sister starting in the new year. It is great that she will be at her new school with some of her close friends.

Our granddaughter was very timid, introvert and shy when she started at The Elms 18 months ago, a complete contrast to the girl she is now.

This is down to the hard work and effort all the staff have put down in to turn her into a confident and intuitive child. They work hard with us and include us in her activities.

Dear T S, thank you and we all agree, what a change in your granddaughter, we can vividly remember her first few days at the 'Elms'.

Our daughter has thrived here. The setting is very supportive and engaging with lots of structured and child led activities. The staff from senior to employee, take the time to know each child individually. It's like a little family - they will be missed!

Peter Dolding, Director at The Elms Nursery School responded to this review on 15 Aug 2017:

Thank you for your review. We know your son enjoys attending the 'Elms' as he always wants to be first in and runs to his classroom. We look forward to this academic year, sadly his last before he attends school.

My daughter has been attending The Elms Nursery for 3 years, (she is almost 4). I have found the nursery to provide an excellent service to my daughter and myself during this time. When returning to work from maternity leave I found myself nervous regarding choosing the right childcare provider. Additionally, I was battling my mother regarding 'it being too early for my daughter to be attending a nursery' this was in reference to my daughter's age. Myself and my mother attended various nurseries in the local area, including The Elms Nursery.

I spoke to the director explaining my needs as a single working parent, who invited myself and my mother to the school to have a look around. We both attended the nursery within the hour and was impressed with the cleanliness of the school and the examples of work displayed around the nursery. We spoke to some of the staff members and it was apparent how childcare was a priority for The Elms Nursery. The high standards of childcare, cleanliness and safeguarding of the children become quickly apparent and this has remained to this day.

From leaving The Elms Nursery it made both myself and my mother at ease and I can quote she stated "this is the one" and now agreed that is was the right time to be putting my daughter into a nursery. The Elms Nursery stood out from the other nurseries that I have visited, the school was very clean but still a playing environment. The menu's stood out with being healthy and balanced meals planned for the week, which impressed me also. The school has different areas to promote different elements of learning for the children. Following this visit it was clear that The Elms Nursery would be where my daughter spent her early years, and I know I made the right choice in early year care provider.

Dear Kerry Ann, WOW - thank you from the whole team.

Our child has loved his time at The Elms and we have hugely appreciated the nursery's conscientious highly professional staff. The team is youthful, energetic, caring and our son is learning there - he is more confident, fun-loving, polite and socially skilled little boy than when he first arrived. Terrific work, much appreciated!

Dear Charles,
We were really pleased with how well your son settled in back in the early days and so pleased that you recognise the professionalism and qualities of our team and I particularly like the youthful bit - thank you.

Our daughter has been attending Elms Nursery since she was 15 months and she loves it there. Throughout her time there we have always felt she was safe and well cared for. The owners and staff are well qualified and very passionate about early learning. My daughter has come on in leaps and bounds every day she has done something creative and fun and has learned really good manners. The food is nutritious and home cooked and has helped my daughter try new things. She learns a lot there and I would highly recommend it.

Peter Dolding, Director at The Elms Nursery School responded to this review on 15 Aug 2017:

Dear Gillian, it must have been very hard for you to leave your daughter with us at the beginning, but how she has blossomed, we look forward to the next couple of years of working with you and your family.

My daughter has been at The Elms Nursery full time since she was one, and is currently getting ready to move up to Primary School. During her time here, I have watched her develop and grow from a baby into a toddler, which is a little upsetting for me and her dad as we feel we have missed a lot of her development stages due to our work commitments. I can only commend The Elms for what they have done for my daughter, they are her second family and I will be just as sad for her to leave as she will be. We feel the level of competence and independence she now shows is primarily down to The Elms (development from drinking out of a cup to counting to thirty), we like to listen to what the staff at The Elms tell us about her learning and development with them, so we can continue with their routines at home, which we have found work very well. Our daughter will certainly miss the range of activities and messy play undertaken at nursery, but hopefully, primary school will give her new adventures.
