9.1 Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Little Flyers has a Review Score of 9.1 (9.083)

The Review Score of 9.1 (maximum of 10) for Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Little Flyers is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Little Flyers in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.5 for Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Little Flyers is calculated as follows: ( (61 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.583 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Little Flyers is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12 positive Reviews (60 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 12 Target = 0.583

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Little Flyers were not the first nursery I had for my daughter, I moved back to North Weald last year. Her previous school told me she did not have very good social skills with other children. For this reason, I chose to keep her at her play school until she was due to go up to the older group in September. However, due to working hours, the travelling and her still not enjoying her school I decided to move her at Easter. So Easter holidays came and went, we walked in and were greeted by the friendly understanding staff, she did get a little upset, but it was handled by the staff so well that she was happily playing and laughing as I left. I arrived 10 minutes early to find her playing in the grass hopper room happily. And I got told off by my daughter for being early (words I thought we would never hear from her). She loves going to school and play with her friends. She has grown so much in the year she has been at Little Flyers. It takes me 20 mins to get her to leave the nursery.

Thank you for your kind words, Tracy.

Before starting the nursery, my son's speech wasn't very good. He has only been at the nursery a few months but since being here, the staff here have encouraged him to talk more and we are getting words put together as well as colours and numbers. He has come on so well. All staff are welcoming and if you need to discuss any matters, they are very happy to help in any way they can.

Nicola Taylor, Marketing & Communications Manager at Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Little Flyers responded to this review on 11 Sep 2017:

Thank you for your kind words, Dawn.

We don't feel like we get a clear picture from the staff of what our son has done on a daily basis. The report at the end of the day is non-existent, usually just 'he's been fine'.

The app detailing our child's progress is very basic and there is no paper learning journal to refer to. Consequently, we don't feel like there is a proper plan made for his progress.

Management rarely responds to emails and most of the time I have to follow up to get any answer, which is frustrating and gives the impression of that they don't care.

Thank you, Kate, for your comments.

As per discussions, we have reviewed the handover period for your child, as it is normally just dad at collection we will ensure the daily diary is continued to be sent over to yourself too.
I understand the nursery manager has discussed with you with regards to providing you with a paper journal of your child's progress as well as you continuing to receive it online.

Our Management team respond to all enquiries as soon as they possibly can. As I am sure you aware nurseries are busy places and the children's care comes first place at all times.

My girls love going into nursery. We have found all of the staff extremely caring and giving.
They have learnt so much during their time and they always surprise me at their knowledge! They run in every day and are excited to go. The outside space is fantastic which they utilise as much as they can. Highly recommend.

Many thanks for your lovely words Clare.

All 3 of my children have attended Little Flyers from a very young age and have all really enjoyed their time there. And also now my older 2 still go along to after school club. All staff are friendly and very caring towards the children. Can't fault anyone with how they have been with my children.

Ashbourne Nursery is a great place. I am so pleased I picked this one for my son. All staff members are so caring and take the time to talk to you. I also love the fact that we get an update online every night via their elog. My son always comes home happy after a day of playing with his friends.

Thank you for your kind words Sarah.

My son struggles to adapt to change and doesn't like to be in new environments, but with the staff at Little Flyers, they have made it easier for my son and adapt to his needs. They are friendly and has made my son feel at ease when being in nursery.

Thankyou Kay for your kind words x

I cannot praise this nursery enough. My daughter went here when she was younger and absolutely loved it. She started at 14 months and went right up until she started school, she took a particular liking to a nursery practitioner who was brilliant with her, this was 3 years ago. I started my second child about 4 months ago, literally just called up the week before and sent him for a trial on the Tuesday, he started the Wednesday.
It's all the same staff from 3 years ago and my son has formed a bond with the same nursery practitioner my daughter loves. He loves going every day, the same as my daughter, the staff are so accommodating I cannot praise the manager enough. It's a fantastic nursery with excellent friendly staff.
